Home game days, hall duty & refereeing
You will play roughly half of your matches away and half at home.
For away matches, everything is arranged in advance. However, on home match days, everyone within the club is responsible for ensuring the day runs smoothly.
Hall duty
Our lowest-level teams take responsibility for hall duty. We have four teams that take turns setting up and taking down the hall.
During setup, you and your team prepare the sports hall for the matches. This includes setting up the three courts, installing the nets, arranging the stands, and completing other necessary preparations so all matches can take place properly.
After the home match day, the assigned team also helps with dismantling everything. This means taking down the courts, clearing the stands, and leaving the hall tidy. Both setup and takedown are always done with at least five members of the assigned team.
Refereeing
If you play in a higher-level team, you are expected to referee matches.
During each home game day, refereeing duties are distributed among the teams. You will receive a schedule for this. Each team is expected to provide at least one first referee, although many teams provide two. Depending on the level your team plays at, you are also expected to be able to referee at that level. For this reason, Kroton offers free courses and training sessions.
Licenses
At Kroton, we also use NeVoBo for obtaining referee licences and assigning referees. For this, you need your NeVoBo account linked to your relation code.
Online spelregelbewijs (Online rules test)
If you play up to and including the third class, an online referee licence is sufficient.
This can be obtained for free via Volleybalmasterz: Volleybalmasterz – Spelregelbewijs
⚠️ Make sure your account is linked to your relation code before taking the test.
Vaardigheidstraining (Skills training)
If you play in at least second class, you are expected to take part in the skills training sessions offered by the club. These sessions are organised approximately four times per year.
The Technical Committee (TC)
Our TC, the Technical Committee, helps place players in the correct teams at the appropriate level and is the first point of contact for all team-related matters.
The TC is responsible for:
- Team selection and composition
- Maintaining and filling teams throughout the season
- Providing support in case of team-related issues
- Conducting team meetings during the season
- Evaluating teams and individual players
At the end of the season, the TC reviews and determines the new team compositions together.
Each team has one designated TC contact person. You should have received their phone number. If not, please contact the board.
Activities & social life
Besides volleyball, Kroton is very much about fun, community, and the social side of the club. Throughout the year, we organise monthly activities that are open to everyone. These include parties, events, tournaments, holidays, team outings, and many other social activities. We also regularly host Thursday drinks, where many members get together to catch up, have a drink, and spend time with each other outside of training and matches.
During the season, home game days are often one of the highlights of the week. After the matches, we traditionally end Saturday evenings at our club café De Brouwerij, where a large part of the association often gathers. Even if you do not know many people yet, these are perfect moments to meet new members and quickly become part of Kroton.
Committees
Many of the things Kroton organises would not be possible without the committees within the club, where our active members volunteer their time and effort. There are committees for activities, parties, sponsorship, social media, introduction, tournaments, and many more.
By joining a committee, you quickly get to know many people within the association and directly contribute to club life. For many members, this is also the best way to truly experience Kroton from the inside.
To get a better idea of which committee might suit you, you can take a look at the poster next to this page or follow the decision tree below. These will guide you step by step to help you find the committee that fits you best.
If you are interested in joining a committee or would like more information, please contact the Internal Coordinator of the board.
Trainers & Refereeing
At Kroton, we do a lot together. Many teams are trained by members from within the club itself. This way, we help each other improve and keep the association running. Besides giving rainers, many members are also active as coaches, referees, organisers, or volunteers during activities and events.
Kroton fully relies on the commitment of its members. That is why we also expect everyone to contribute in their own way, both on and off the court. This is what makes Kroton more than just a volleyball club.
If you are interested in giving training sessions within Kroton, please contact the Head TC.
If you are interested in refereeing at a higher level or have questions about refereeing matters, please contact the Match Secretary.
Board
The board is ultimately responsible for everything within the association. They oversee teams, committees, activities, finances, and all other organisational aspects within Kroton. In addition, they support committees and members where needed and ensure the association runs smoothly.
